Rare and endangered species of plants and animals is the most fragile, but very important part of nature. Disappearance of any population, moreover, of any biological species is an irreparable loss for the Earth’s biodiversity. As natural communities lose their constituent species under the impact of anthropogenic factors, the role of natural reserves as the natural storages of genetic information increases.
The “Khakassky” state natural reserve is the only natural reserve in the Republic of Khakasia. It consists of 9 sections, which are located in 5 districts of the republic. Such geographical location provides a high diversity of landscapes, habitats, and also a rich diversity of plants and animals that inhabit the protected area. The total number of plant and animal species recorded in the “Khakassky” reserve is 89,7% of the total number of plant and animal species of the Republic of Khakasia and 40,3% of the total number of plant and animal species of the Altai-Sayan Ecoregion.
All the information about the protected nature is collected at the Museum of Nature of the “Khakassky” natural reserve. In addition to permanent exhibits, there is an exposition organized specially for physically challenged children and children with developmental disability.
